Crematorium in Puchong (next to our Taman, sigh)

It may not be sensible and right to construct a crematorium nearby existing Puchong residential neighbourhoods and schools as unpleasant gases(including deadly mercury vapour of dental amalgam – see Wikipedia with own reference ) of cremation could endanger the health of residents. Crematorium should be placed in remote area such as Sepang, preferably seaside.

By studying attached proposed location maps with 1 km radius, the zone has already covered extensively Bandar Puteri, Puchong Hartamas, Puchong Batu 14 New Village(Kampung Bahru), Puchong Utama, Saujana Puchong, Taman Orang Asli, Taman Mutiara Indah and so on.

Nobody likes living so close to a crematory and we hope the Selangor state government/MPSJ can really re-look into this issue.

Crematorium in Puchong to be ready early next year

The crematorium in Jalan Bunga Kertas, 14th Mile, Puchong, will be ready early next year.

At a ground-breaking ceremony recently, Subang Jaya municipal councillor Loka Ng said work was expected to start soon and would take about five months to complete.

“We are expecting it to be ready in January or February,” he said.

A Buddhist blessing and purification ceremony was also held at the site.

The crematorium will be built on an 0.6ha site sandwiched between a Hindu and Chinese cemetery in Jalan Bunga Kertas.

Ng said the Selangor government and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) had allocated RM1.2mil for an incinerator.

“There are two incinerators in the plan but funds are only enough to build one for now.

“Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu and Dr Xavier Jayakumar have pledged RM100,000 each and we are seeking another RM200,000 from the MPSJ for the second incinerator,” he said.

Ng said about 30% of the population in the Subang Jaya municipality were Buddhists and 15% Hindus.

“The nearest crematoriums are located in Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and Klang,” he said.

MPSJ councillor K. Arumugam reiterated that the crematorium should not be privatised to ensure that the service was affordable.

Also present were Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah, MPSJ councillors and representatives from Buddhist associations.
